Right now we are reading: a Return to Love by Marianne Williamson
When I learned about the 12 steps and anonymous meetings I was shocked that there is no "people" anonymous. Someone may not fit into the categories of NA or AA etc, but could really benefit from that support of the community and principles of the program. Kindness Anonymous creates free workshops and public health meetings with resources to create a trauma-informed society. We create a safe space in each community to allow each other to be seen and heard with no expectation or qualifications other than the desire to show kindness to ourselves and others. Our goal is to make our program as popular and accessible as programs like Alcoholics Anonymous including meetings in every town every day, online, and free clinics in low income areas. Our lives depend on a foundation of respect, truth, and functionality. If we can integrate these basic skills into our lives, future generations will be less likely to turn to unhealthy coping mechanisms in the first place.
Kindness Anonymous uses a format similar to Alcoholics Anonymous and other 12-step programs but adds a new workshop modality of 3 steps: radical honesty, radical acceptance, and aligned action.
"Kindness Anonymous is a fellowship of people who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problems and help others to unite under God. The only requirement for membership is a desire to show kindness to ourselves and others. There are no dues or fees for membership; we are not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; Kindness Anonymous does not wish to engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay connected to God and help other people to achieve wholeness."
